Delhi HC stays broadcast of Sudarshan TV’s controversial show that targets Muslims

In a major development,  the Delhi High Court on Friday restrained Sudarshan TV from telecasting a controversial program on Muslims ‘infiltration in government services. The notice was issued following a petition against Sudarshan TV’s show on the said subject.

The controversial show

A promotional video by Sudarshan TV has been going viral on social media. In the video, the presenter claims that there is Muslim ‘infiltration’ in government services and that the channel is going to reveal the ‘secret’ in a show titled ‘Bindas Bol’.

The presenter further asks as to how Muslims have become IAS and IPS officers, also goes on to use words like ‘Jamia Ke Jihadi’ (Jamia’s Jihadi) to define the people engaged in such services. This particular video led to debate and discussions among netizens. Many have questioned the ‘Journalism’ of this channel.

The Court Order

The petition filed against the channel, reads, “Respondent No 4 has openly incited his target non-Muslim audience by fearmongering that “jihadis” or terrorists from Jamia Millia Islamia would soon hold positions of authority and power like that of Collector and Secretary.”

The Delhi High Court restrained from telecasting the programme titled ‘Bindas Bol’ scheduled to be telecast at 8.00 p.m. today.

“Having considered the submissions made, till the next date of hearing, the respondent nos.3 and 4 are restrained from telecasting the programme titled ‘Bindas Bol’ scheduled to be telecast at 8.00 p.m. today. In the meantime, the respondent no. 1 shall decide on the notice issued and place its decision before this court.” ~ Delhi High Court
