Pakistani flight with 107 on board crashes near Karachi minutes before landing

PK – 303, a Pakistani International Airlines flight crashed on Friday near Karachi. The flight reportedly was on its way to Karachi from Lahore.  The flight with 107 people on board crashed near Jinnah International Airport.

The news reports received so far did not mention any number of casualties, moreover, there is no official report on the number of casualties. Reportedly, among the 107 people on board, 99 were passengers and 8 were crew members.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan shocked and saddened following the incident. He tweeted,” Shocked & saddened by the PIA crash. I am in touch with PIA CEO Arshad Malik, who has left for Karachi & with the rescue & relief teams on the ground as this is the priority right now. The immediate inquiry will be instituted. Prayers & condolences go to families of the deceased.”

The rescue operation is in progress. The flight crashed jus a minute before landing. Eyewitness says that the flight attempted to land two or three times before crashing near Jinnah International Airport. More details are awaited.
