In a tragic incident on Monday, 29 people died after an accident that took place at Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. An Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus reportedly hit the divider and fell through a gap between two flyovers on the Expressway this morning.
State media reports say that the UPSRTC bus was on its way from Lucknow to Delhi. Police reached the spot immediately and the rescue works are in progress.
Prime Minister Modi in a tweet wrote, “Pained by the bus accident in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those injured recover fast. The State Government and local administration are providing all possible assistance to the affected.”
Latest reports received from state media say that an ex gratia of ₹5 lakh to each of the kin of the deceased is announced by the U.P. Roadways.
